One Child At A Time

At the ACTC September general meeting, two children, Lorenzo and Georgia Ramirez, and their Grandmother Patricia Garcia, thanked us for our support of the Aztec Bike Club of Gardner Academy. The children live far enough from school that it is not practical to walk, but still they walked because driving them is not an option. Then the children received bicycles from Turning Wheels for Kids and now look forward everyday to going to school. “They love riding to school and now love going to school,” Patricia said.

It is awesome that a bicycle given to a child can make such a big difference. If the act of going to school was a chore in itself, the efficient bicycle fixes that.

ACTC has a proud philanthropic history of supporting many programs, from Turning Wheels For Kids (since its founding over a decade ago), to Good Karma Bikes, Kidical Mass, Guadalupe River Park Conservancy, Gardner Academy, bicycle research at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and many more. This last meeting is the most satisfying — helping children to become cyclists (going to school is icing on the cake), one child at a time.

Best,
Tony Le, ACTC President
